The Role As a Support Worker, you will provide a consistent support service to our service users. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will assess, support and oversee the risk management of our residents and provide information and guidance as appropriate. Working in a small, dedicated team, you will help our residents develop their independent living skills by signposting them to relevant services and creating support plans, with the aim of preparing them to move on to independent accommodation, employment or further education. Additionally, you will: – Ensure the safety and security of the residents within our properties – Maintain a secure environment for visitors and colleagues – Acquire and provide up-to-date and accurate information relating to residents and the service as a whole About You To join us as a Support Worker, you will need: – Experience in working with vulnerable people or those with complex needs – Experience in managing complex and difficult situations – Knowledge of homelessness and the impact on young people – An awareness and understanding of the issues and needs of the service users – Good time management with an ability to work under pressure and manage any conflicting priorities – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with residents and colleagues – The ability to adapt to a changeable environment, responsibilities and residents – A good understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and support plans Experience of working in supported housing would be beneficial to your application. A qualification in a relevant field such as Health and Social Care, First Aid in the Work Place, drugs and alcohol and/or Health & Safety would also be an advantage. This role will involve the following working patterns: Day Shift (Monday to Sunday from 9am to 5.30pm) or overnight, 12 hours shifts on a rota system. Normal office hours are 8am to 8pm and some weekend and office cover shifts will need to be rota’d in. Other organisations may call this role Social Worker, Residential Care Assistant, Housing Support Worker, or Community Support Worker.
